YSRCP names Anam Vijaykumar Reddy as Nellore Mayor candidate

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has announced Anam Vijaykumar Reddy as its candidate for the Nellore Mayor position in the upcoming local body elections. Party leaders stated the decision followed directions from YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, noting the seat is expected to fall under the open category.

YSRCP leadership has accused the current coalition government of using deceptive tactics to hinder the opposition, including allegedly filing false cases against party members and withholding necessary election forms.

In related political developments, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for increased transparency within the Election Commission, suggesting a review of the 2023 appointment law. He proposed that Election Commissioners be appointed by a committee including the Leader of Opposition, the Chief Justice of India, and the Prime Minister.

Additionally, the YSRCP has urged the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission to hold an all-party meeting to address concerns regarding election procedures, ward delimitation, and the timely issuance of certificates. The party has also requested the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces to ensure election security and neutrality.
