Yu Chen-ping Receives Golden Horse Lifetime Achievement Award

Director Yu Chen-ping was announced as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards. The honor was revealed on the eve of his 76th birthday, prompting the filmmaker to call it a “super birthday gift.”

Yu, who entered the Taiwanese film industry in 1974, is known for blending genre cinema with social issues in works such as “The Wrong Way,” “Taipei Myth,” “Lust for a Man,” and “Two Painters.” His later projects focus on indigenous communities, producing documentaries like “My Tribe, My Song” and “Endless Puyuma Love.” He has also received the National Cultural Award, an honorary doctorate from the National Dong Hwa University, and a top prize from the Indigenous Peoples Commission. The Golden Horse nominations will be announced on October 1, and the award ceremony is scheduled for November 22, with the 2026 Golden Horse Film Festival opening on November 6.
