Yu Kobayashi praised for tactical play in Kawasaki Frontale victory

In a J1 League match on October 17, Kawasaki Frontale secured a 4-2 victory against Cerezo Osaka. While midfielder Tomoya Ozeki scored the decisive fourth goal, attention has turned to veteran forward Yu Kobayashi for his unrecorded tactical contribution.

Kobayashi, who has announced his retirement effective January 1, performed a ‘screen’ maneuver during the goal sequence. By moving to block the path of a Cerezo Osaka defender, he cleared a shooting lane for Ozeki, a play that fans have praised as a ‘hidden fine play’ despite not appearing in official statistics.
