Yu Shirota promotes Sagrada Família’s Jesus Tower symphonic concert in Japan

Actor Yu Shirota appeared at a press conference in Tokyo to promote the “Sagrada Família Symphonic Concert,” scheduled for 15 November at the Tokyo International Forum and 25 November at Osaka’s Festival Hall. The event commemorates the completion of the basilica’s main tower, the 172.5‑metre‑high “Jesus Tower,” marking a century since architect Antoni Gaudí’s death.

Shirota, who spent his childhood in Barcelona, recounted personal memories of the landmark, likening it to Tokyo Tower for locals and describing the June 2026 dedication ceremony attended by the Pope. He will serve as the concert’s storyteller, sharing footage collected over 15 years, while a full orchestra performs alongside archival NHK video. Shirota will not sing but will narrate the experience to Japanese audiences.
