Yucatán and Campeche hold lowest U.S. travel advisory level in Mexico

Yucatán and Campeche are currently the only Mexican states holding the lowest travel advisory level issued by the United States government. Both entities are classified at level one, advising travelers to “exercise normal precautions.”

This stands in contrast to the general advisory for Mexico, which remains at level two due to risks involving crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. Within the Yucatán Peninsula, Quintana Roo is held at level two due to risks of violence between rival groups and criminal activity in both tourist and non-tourist areas. While Yucatán and Campeche maintain the most favorable status, U.S. authorities noted that level one does not imply a total absence of risk, citing the potential for violence linked to criminal organizations.
