Yucatán and Quintana Roo officials deliver equipment to boost local livelihoods

The social development agency of Yucatán (DIF) handed out hand‑mills, brush cutters, fumigation backpacks and wheelchairs to residents of San José Chactún, Maxcanú, as part of a programme aimed at improving family income and mobility. Officials highlighted the effort, with DIF director Shirley Edith Castillo Sánchez noting, “No importan los kilómetros, no importa si es una persona o son mil; lo importante es que estos apoyos lleguen a la gente.”

In Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz presented seven cargo tricycles to women—including single mothers and seniors—under the “Te Escuchamos, Gestionamos y Te Cumplimos” initiative. She said, “En este gobierno escuchamos a la gente y cumplimos con hechos,” emphasizing the tools’ role in strengthening household economies.

Both distributions were framed as direct responses to community requests, aiming to foster productive activities and improve quality of life in the respective municipalities.
