Yucatán begins construction of 90-million-peso State Autism Center

Construction has begun on the State Autism Center in Mérida, Yucatán, following a groundbreaking ceremony in the Ciudad Salud area. The project involves a total investment of 90 million pesos, with 50 million pesos provided by the State Government and 40 million pesos contributed by DIF Yucatán.

The facility will be built on a 10,000-square-meter plot and is designed to serve children, adolescents, and adults with autism across all 106 municipalities of Yucatán. The center will offer a comprehensive range of services, including diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, family support, educational inclusion, and vocational training for independent living.

Planned amenities include medical offices, psychology areas, a Gesell chamber, dentistry, and specialized spaces for speech and occupational therapy. The center will also feature a sensory gym and a housing simulator to help users develop life skills. The construction, managed by the Secretaría de Infraestructura para el Bienestar (SIB), is estimated to run from August 31, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
