Yucatán correctional staff undergo torture prevention training
Forty-nine public servants working in Yucatán's correctional facilities and social reintegration areas have completed specialized training focused on torture prevention, the use of force, and human rights. The program was coordinated by the Subsecretariat of Prevention and Social Reintegration in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) through the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture.
The 18-hour training included both remote sessions and practical activities, such as workshops based on real-world torture cases. Participants included staff from the Mérida, Femenil, Tekax, and Valladolid correctional centers (Ceresos), as well as personnel from the Directorate of Execution.
Key topics covered included legal obligations, the proper use of force according to current regulations, and the application of the Nelson Mandela Rules in detention centers. The initiative aims to strengthen institutional actions based on legality, accountability, and the protection of the dignity of incarcerated individuals.
