Yucatán government resolves pension and water debt claims
The government of Yucatán has addressed the demands of 70-year-old Josefina Ramos González, who had been protesting in front of the Government Palace. The issues raised included a water debt and a widow's pension.
Regarding the water debt, the Junta de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de Yucatán (Japay) has formally condoned a 500-peso debt and initiated work on a well requested for her residence.
On the matter of the pension, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena reported that the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) has resolved the widow's pension claim. The institute confirmed the pension has been paid, including five years of retroactive payments, prior to the start of her protest.
