Yucatán government to fund UNAM entrance exam travel for students

The Government of Yucatán has announced it will provide comprehensive financial support to nearly 80 students traveling from Yucatán to Mexico City to take entrance exams for the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena met with the applicants to confirm that the state will cover essential expenses, including transportation via two buses, lodging, meals, and local transit within Mexico City. This decision follows recent dissatisfaction expressed by students regarding the costs and logistical difficulties of traveling outside the state to complete the entrance process for the Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores (ENES) Mérida.

The initiative aims to ensure that distance and travel costs do not prevent local talent from pursuing professional training in fields such as Biology, Applied Sociology, Computer Engineering, and Sustainable Coastal Zone Management. The Governor noted that professional preparation is vital for the upcoming industrial and infrastructure projects currently developing in the region.
