Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena delivered 99 four-stroke outboard motors to fishermen in the Yucatán region, including areas such as Progreso, Chicxulub, Chelem, Chuburná Puerto, Sisal, Celestún, Telchac Puerto, Chabihau, and Santa Clara.

The Motores para el Bienestar program aims to provide modern, resistant, and less polluting equipment to improve safety and livelihoods. Over the last two years, the initiative has supported 391 fishermen with a total investment of 37 million pesos. Specifically, the program allocated 17 million pesos for 177 motors in 2025 and 20 million pesos for 214 motors in 2026.

During the event, the Governor also signed an agreement to establish the Centro del Bienestar del Pescador at the Stella Maris Center in Progreso, which will serve as a permanent office for the Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
