Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena launches sports dome and land donation projects
Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena of Yucatán inaugurated construction of a new metal‑frame dome and the rehabilitation of a multi‑use court in the Vivah subdivision of Kanasín. The 4.2 million‑peso investment will provide LED lighting, a perimeter fence, acrylic boards, two 50‑seat grandstands and a ramp for people with disabilities, serving more than 13,000 residents with a safe, inclusive space for sport and recreation.
In a separate initiative, the state government transferred a 30‑hectare parcel in the municipality of Izamal to the local council. The land will be used for “Viviendas del Bienestar” housing projects, a second‑level hospital, a fairground and community‑social areas, all under the Plan Bienestar Yucatán. Legal procedures for the donation were completed in mid‑2026, moving the property from public to private state ownership before its hand‑over to the municipality.
