Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena Plans to Resume Work and School After Heavy Rains

The government of the Mexican state of Yucatán, led by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, announced that state agencies remain coordinated to address the recent heavy rains that caused flooding in several municipalities. Emergency shelters and water‑pumping equipment continue to operate, while the Secretariat of Health has intensified preventive and sanitary monitoring in the most affected communities.

The administration is supplying fuel and supplies to local governments, supporting firefighting units, the state water company (Japay), and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in water removal and road repairs. The Institute of Road Infrastructure (INCAY) will restore communication routes once water levels recede. The governor said that if weather forecasts improve and rains decrease, the resumption of labor and school activities will be evaluated based on technical criteria, prioritising public safety.
