Yucatán Governor launches agricultural aid program in southern municipalities

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena of Yucatán toured the southern municipalities of Tekax and Tzucacab as part of the state’s “Renacimiento Agropecuario” initiative. He delivered 87 tonnes of seed – maize, sorghum and soy – to benefit more than 3,250 hectares of farmland, and provided livestock support, new “sacacosechas” rural roads and plans for solar‑powered irrigation systems in coordination with Conagua. The program includes a joint investment of 30 million pesos to build a new Centro Pilares Renacimiento, a university campus, a water tank and 100 homes for low‑income families. State officials said the seed distribution aims to generate roughly 9,500 tonnes of grain and an economic impact exceeding 55 million pesos for local producers.

The governor emphasized that the measures constitute “social justice” for rural communities, seeking to keep public resources within the hands of those who work the land. He also announced upcoming meetings with federal authorities to prevent the closure of the local agricultural high school and to continue infrastructure projects in the region.
