Mexican state governments launch subsidy programs for maize and beekeeping
The governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, handed out assistance to 1,000 maize producers across ten municipalities. The aid, delivered through three state programs, includes up to 180,000 pesos for seeds, fertilizers, pest‑control materials and machinery for 43 farmers under Promaíz Edomex, climate‑damage compensation for 452 smallholders via the PASACME scheme, and price‑guarantee support for 505 farmers through COPREGME. In total, 771 tractors have been distributed since the administration began, with another 550 planned by 2026, and the collective brand “La Mejor Tortilla del Mundo” was officially registered.
Separately, Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena visited Tizimín, Valladolid and Temozón, providing more than 28 million pesos in aid for beekeepers, livestock producers, carpenters and road improvements. He inaugurated the construction of the first of four honey‑collection centers in Tizimín, part of a state plan to improve the handling and marketing of Yucatán honey. Additional projects include a 60 million‑peso regional honey‑collection hub in Valladolid, support for 199 families to establish backyard poultry farms, equipment for 44 carpenters, and the repair of 14 km of rural roads.
