Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena has presented the 'Plan Bienestar Metropolitano' to the State Planning and Evaluation Council (Copledey). The initiative seeks a financing request of approximately 1,562 million pesos to be submitted to the State Congress. The plan aims to address critical infrastructure needs in Mérida and its metropolitan area over a three-year period, with a total projected investment of 4,490.9 million pesos.

The plan focuses on three primary pillars identified through public consultations involving over 34,000 participants: water and sanitation, mobility, and security. Water projects include rehabilitating the Mérida I and II plants and expanding coverage to over 596,000 homes. Security measures involve installing new monitoring points, license plate readers, and additional cameras. Mobility improvements include the 'Red Metropolitana de Vialidades Seguras' to modernize intersections and pedestrian infrastructure.

The financing proposal has met political resistance. PRI Deputy Gaspar Quintal criticized the plan as an attempt to indebt the state, arguing that the administration should seek fiscal efficiency and territorial equity across all 105 municipalities rather than requesting large loans.

Additionally, the state has launched the 'Cimientos del Renacimiento' program, designed to provide comprehensive support and technical training—including plumbing, electricity, and welding—to both public and private construction workers to meet the demands of growing regional infrastructure projects.
