Yucatán health officials address O’Horán Hospital nursing protests

Yucatán Health Secretary Miguel Alberto Alcocer Gamboa has addressed protests by nursing staff at the Agustín O’Horán Hospital regarding their wages and transition to the federal IMSS-Bienestar system. Alcocer Gamboa stated that approximately 50 nurses participated in the demonstration due to delays in receiving higher salaries promised under the new federalized health scheme.

The Secretary clarified that the workers will receive retroactive payments within two to three biweekly periods. This delay is attributed to administrative processes required for the transition, including registering employees with the tax authority (Hacienda). He emphasized that all worked time is covered and that there will be no period without pay.

Juan Carlos Arana Reyes, the state coordinator for IMSS-Bienestar, is engaging in dialogue with the staff to clarify labor conditions and address concerns regarding the differences between state and federal salary scales.
