Yucatán health workers protest unfulfilled job promises at new O'Horán hospital
Medical and support staff at the newly inaugurated Hospital Agustín O'Horán in Mérida staged a protest demanding that Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena honor his campaign promise to provide them with permanent base positions. The workers, who served throughout the COVID‑19 crisis, claim that despite Yucatán’s recent integration into the IMSS Bienestar system, the promised basifications have not materialized, leaving many on temporary contracts or transferred to other states. They allege that after the federation allocated their base slots to other states, they received no permanent placement in Yucatán. The protestors are awaiting a negotiation meeting and have warned they will continue demonstrations until the promised jobs are secured.
