Yucatán housing program hits 67% of six‑year target

Mexico’s "Vivienda para el Bienestar" programme in the Yucatán state has reached 67 % of its six‑year goal, with 46,909 homes slated for construction across 52 active land parcels in 36 municipalities. Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena met federal officials – Sedatu secretary Edna Elena Vega Rangel and Infonavit director Octavio Romero Oropeza – in Mexico City to accelerate the release of pending parcels.

Infonavit reports that the first 64 houses of the San Marcos development in Mérida were delivered on 29 January, an event attended by President Claudia Sheinbaum. The scheme targets young workers aged 18 plus and families earning one to two minimum wages. Online preregistration has been open and free since February 2026. Coordination involves Sedatu, Conavi, Infonavit, the State Institute of Housing (IVEY) and other state agencies.
