Yucatán invests 14.5 million pesos in Casa Otoch social center

The government of Yucatán has announced an investment of 14.5 million pesos to improve Casa Otoch, a social assistance center for children and adolescents. Led by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and Wendy Méndez Naal, the President of DIF Yucatán, the initiative focuses on sustainable infrastructure and educational support.

A major component of the project is the installation of 714 solar panels. This transition to clean energy is expected to drastically reduce the center’s monthly electricity costs from approximately 250,000–275,000 pesos to roughly 500 pesos. The resulting savings are intended to be redirected toward food, healthcare, and education for the residents.

Additional improvements include the opening of a new dome, the start of construction for the second stage of the Casa Otoch school, the provision of school supply packages, and upgrades to the facility's kitchen. These measures aim to provide safer and more dignified environments for the children to study, eat, and develop.
