Yucatán launches free Báaxal Paal Renacimiento 2026 summer camp for children
The government of the State of Yucatán announced the Báaxal Paal Renacimiento 2026 summer camp, a free program for children aged 6 to 12 that will run from 20 July to 1 August 2026. The camp will take place in Mérida and eleven interior municipalities, using state sports facilities, the Metropolitan Linear Park Los Paseos, and sites managed by IMSS, ISSSTE and various unions.
Organised under the “Aliados por la Vida” strategy, the initiative involves the secretariats of Health, Education, Public Security, Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture, Women, the DIF Yucatán, Cepredey and the National Guard. Activities are grouped into four pillars: physical activation and pre‑sport, art and culture, priority sports disciplines (including talent detection for future national and international competition), and programs that promote peace, inclusion, equality and healthy habits. The camp aims to provide a safe, recreational and educational environment while identifying new sports talent, as exemplified by world‑under‑17 weight‑lifting champion Víctor Méndez Uicab, who began in state sports initiation programs. Registration is free and information is available through the IDEY’s official social‑media channels.
