Tropical waves trigger rainfall and heat in Dominican Republic and Colombia

In the Dominican Republic, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has reported that a tropical wave and a trough are causing increased cloudiness, showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts, particularly in the afternoon and toward the interior of the country. High temperatures and elevated thermal sensations persist, with Indomet advising the population to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure. A tropical wave moving from the west coast of Africa is under surveillance, with a 10% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within 48 hours and a 50% chance within seven days.

In Colombia, the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) has identified two tropical waves, numbers 40 and 41, that will trigger increased precipitation and electrical activity. Wave 41 is expected to enter toward the end of the week, affecting regions including Córdoba, Antioquia, Chocó, and the Caribbean archipelago. Authorities have issued warnings regarding winds of up to 37 km/h and waves reaching three meters in the western Caribbean.
