The Yucatán Peninsula has recorded seven deaths due to heatstroke so far in 2026, according to reports from the Mexican Ministry of Health. The region, comprising the states of Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán, has seen a significant impact from extreme temperatures.

Quintana Roo has recorded the highest number of fatalities in the region with four deaths, followed by Campeche with two and Yucatán with one. In addition to the fatalities, 94 cases of heatstroke have been treated across the three states, alongside numerous instances of dehydration and burns. While Quintana Roo leads in deaths, Yucatán has concentrated the majority of the treated heatstroke cases.

Nationally, Mexico has reported 95 deaths and 1,774 cases related to the heat season, representing a lethality rate of 5.35%. Recent weekly data indicates that extreme heat continues to affect many regions, with daily averages showing that approximately 22 people require medical attention for heat-related issues across the country.
