Yucatán provides housing support to 20 women victims of violence

The Yucatán Secretariat of Women (Semujeres) has distributed 150,000 pesos to 20 women victims of gender violence through the ‘Vivienda Segura’ (Safe Housing) program. Each beneficiary received 7,500 pesos to improve their living conditions and establish a secure environment away from abusive settings.

Sisely Burgos Cano, head of the department, stated that while financial aid cannot compensate for the damage caused by violence, it serves as a first step toward economic and housing autonomy. The initiative aims to help women and their children rebuild their lives and access new opportunities.

In addition to financial assistance, the program provides access to integral support through the 45 ‘Centros Libre para las Mujeres’ located across Yucatán. This support includes psychological and social workshops, job training, and legal assistance provided by specialized strategic litigation lawyers.
