Yucatán reports improvements in mental health and vaccination rates
Yucatán health officials have reported significant developments in public health metrics. Preliminary data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) indicates a nearly 24 percent decrease in suicide cases, dropping from 331 in 2024 to 252 in 2025. To support this trend, the ‘Aliados por la Vida’ program has expanded mental health services, including the ‘Línea Amiga’ support line and school-based mental health screenings, which have reached over 51,000 students.
In broader health initiatives, the state has seen high vaccination rates, including 95.69 percent coverage for infants and 100 percent compliance with influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) targets. Following Yucatán’s incorporation into the IMSS-Bienestar system, authorities have focused on improving medicine supply and hospital infrastructure.
Efforts to combat infectious diseases have also been highlighted. Dengue prevention measures included fumigating over 318,000 hectares and implementing biological control using Wolbachia-carrying mosquitoes, resulting in 51 confirmed dengue cases. Additionally, nearly 595,000 doses of the measles vaccine were administered.
