Yucatán Strengthens Tourism Leadership for 2027‑2028 Conferences

The state tourism board Fideture, together with Visit Yucatán, hosted a four‑day familiarisation tour for eleven representatives from medical, industrial, agricultural, financial and economic associations. Participants inspected modern venues such as the International Congress Center and the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention Center, reviewed the region’s 17,600 hotel rooms, international air links and cultural attractions, and met local agencies to plan future meetings. The initiative aims to secure national and international congresses in 2027‑2028, boosting the local economy and creating jobs.

Jordy Abraham Martínez, newly elected president of the Consejo Empresarial Turístico de Yucatán (CETUR), said his administration will deepen coordination with state, municipal and federal authorities and partner with universities—including Universidad Anáhuac Mayab and Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán—to develop data‑driven market analyses, AI‑enhanced promotion tools and targeted communication strategies. He called for the full allocation of the hotel tax revenue to tourism promotion, arguing that only half of those funds have been used since the pandemic. Together, these efforts seek to increase visitor numbers, length of stay and spending in Yucatán.
