Yucatán tourism leaders adopt unified agenda at CETUR meeting
Business leaders, chamber presidents and representatives of the tourism value chain gathered at a meeting convened by the Consejo Empresarial Turístico de Yucatán (CETUR). The event, held in Mérida, included the state tourism secretary Darío Flota Ocampo and Tren Maya director Manuel Jaime Ramírez Camacho as special guests. Participants stressed the need for coordinated action and a shared long‑term vision to make Yucatán more competitive, citing shifts in travel habits, rising destination competition and the importance of better connectivity, promotion, service quality and innovation.
The meeting also honoured entrepreneur and former tourism secretary Jorge Torre Loría for his three‑decade role in founding the K’íiwik Maya World Tourism Fair. Attendees featured industry figures such as Miguel Quintana Pali (CEO, Grupo Xcaret), José Chapur Zahoul (founder, The Palace Company), and presidents of regional tourism associations. The consensus was to leverage new infrastructure projects, including the Tren Maya, to extend visitor stays, increase economic spill‑over and sustain the sector’s growth.
