Yudelina Mejía and José Antonio Mena honored at ACDSD awards

ACDSD awards Yudelina Mejía sports journalism Dominican Republic athletes sports excellence gala

The Association of Sports Journalists of Santo Domingo (ACDSD) held its 2026 excellence gala to honor outstanding Dominican athletes and sports journalists for their performances during 2025.

World weightlifting champion Yudelina Mejía was named Athlete of the Year, while journalist José Antonio Mena received the Cronista del Año award. Other athletes recognized for their excellence include sprinters Marileidy Paulino, Liranyi Alonso, and Alexander Ogando, basketball player Jean Montero, MLB player Junior Caminero, judoka Robert Florentino, and volleyball player Alondra Tapia.

In the journalism category, the ACDSD honored several correspondents, including Yancen Pujols, Ricardo Rodríguez, Manuel Reyes, Juan Carlos Santana, and Edinson Gil. Special recognition was also given to Osvaldo Rodríguez Suncar and Gustavo Rodríguez Diloné for their long-standing careers, and to José P. Monegro for his leadership in organizing the Central American and Caribbean Games.
