Yudi Tamashiro delivers 5 tonnes of aid to Kumamoto earthquake victims

A magnitude‑6.8 earthquake struck Kumamoto, Japan on 28 July 2026, killing about 38 people, injuring dozens and leaving thousands homeless. Brazilian TV presenter and missionary Yudi Tamashiro marked his 34th birthday by organizing a relief effort. With the help of businessman André Gonçalves and the local Brazilian community, he collected five tonnes of food, hygiene products and other essentials. On 5 August he drove from Tokyo to Kumamoto in a motorhome and two trucks, delivering the supplies to families, shelters and reconstruction sites, and praised the resilience of the Japanese people.

Tamashiro said the mission brought hope and faith to the affected families and highlighted that reconstruction work had already begun in many parts of the city.
