Yuga Labs launches Mudwater trading card collection on Solana

Yuga Labs has launched Mudwater, a collection of physical and digital trading cards built on the Solana blockchain. The debut set, titled ‘Swamp Origins’, features 120 distinct artworks based on Bored Ape Yacht Club imagery. The cards are categorized into four tiers: standard, foil, serialized, and a rare ‘cracked-ice’ edition, which includes eight unique 1/1 grails.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) holders are eligible to claim packs through a system using ERC-6551 token-bound accounts, referred to as ‘Totems’. BAYC holders can claim ten packs each, while MAYC holders are eligible for two packs. Each pack contains ten cards. The initial claim program offers over 140,000 packs, with a deadline for claims set for January 19, 2027.

The project includes a reward mechanism where 2.5% of NFT trading value is used to purchase ApeCoin, which is then distributed to Mudwater NFT holders. Each physical card is linked to a matching Solana NFT held in a vault, ensuring ownership exists both physically and on the blockchain.
