Yugan Sakthivel Muthukumaar wins Trap Men Junior gold in Porpetto
Indian shooter Yugan Sakthivel Muthukumaar won the gold medal in the Trap Men Junior event at the ISSF Junior World Cup Shotgun in Porpetto, Italy. The 15-year-old marksman hit 27 targets in the final, narrowly defeating Italy’s Francesco Tanfoglio, who took silver with 26 hits. Simone Roncen of Italy secured the bronze medal with 21 targets.
Muthukumaar advanced to the medal round after a qualification score of 114, which initially placed him sixth. He secured his spot in the final by winning a shoot-off against Spain’s Eduard Salichs. This victory marks India’s first medal at the Porpetto competition.
In other Indian performances, Sabeera Haris qualified for the women’s trap final but finished sixth. Other Indian shooters, including Arjun, Vinay Pratap Singh Chandrawat, and Udhav Singh Rathore, competed in the men’s trap qualification but did not advance to the medal rounds.
