Yugo Maeda achieves 10-game opening winning streak for SoftBank Hawks

SoftBank Hawks pitcher Yugo Maeda has achieved a remarkable 10-game winning streak to start the season. In his third year since graduating high school, the left-handed pitcher has secured 10 wins in 13 appearances with an impressive 1.75 ERA.

Chief Pitching Coach Shinji Kurano expressed immense praise for Maeda, stating that his performance has “far exceeded” expectations. Before the season, team leadership had projected Maeda might achieve approximately five wins this year. Kurano highlighted Maeda’s exceptional mental strength and innate competitive instincts, noting that his growth on the mound has been continuous.

Maeda, a former standout at Osaka Toin High School and a contributor to the U18 World Cup winning team, is currently tied for the league lead in wins. His recent performance against the Seibu Lions, where he pitched seven scoreless innings, further solidified his breakout season.
