Yugoslav military camouflage discovered near Pula Airport

Former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) military structures near Pula Airport in Istria have gained renewed attention due to their unique camouflage design. These structures were built to resemble ordinary rural houses, featuring facades, tiled roofs, and courtyards to blend into the local landscape.

Investigation by the YouTube channel Terra Croatia reveals that these buildings were never intended for habitation. They lacked kitchens, living rooms, or residents, serving instead as hollow shells to conceal three massive above-ground fuel tanks. Each tank reportedly had a capacity of approximately one million liters, providing a total storage capacity of three million liters for the Pula military airfield.

Constructed during the Cold War, this infrastructure was designed to secure large supplies of aviation fuel while remaining undetected from the air. The tanks were reportedly supplied directly from the Budava bay.
