Yuhan Corp joins global campaign to raise awareness for Gaucher disease

Yuhan Corp has announced its second consecutive year of participation in the World Gaucher Day campaign organized by the International Gaucher Association (IGA). This year’s campaign, themed ‘Equity in Action,’ focuses on reducing disparities in diagnosis and treatment access caused by geographic and medical environment differences.

Gaucher disease is a rare genetic metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency in the glucocerebrosidase enzyme, leading to the accumulation of lipids in organs. While an estimated 20,000 people are affected worldwide, fewer than 100 cases are known in South Korea. Symptoms include enlarged liver and spleen, anemia, bone pain, and potential neurological issues.

In addition to awareness efforts, Yuhan Corp is developing YH35995, an oral small-molecule drug candidate designed to inhibit glucosylceramide synthase (GCS). The company is currently conducting Phase 1 clinical trials, having completed single ascending dose (SAD) testing and moving into multiple ascending dose (MAD) testing, with a goal to enter Phase 2 by the second half of 2027.
