Yuhan Corporation’s Leclaza wins Best Pharmaceutical Product award

Yuhan Corporation’s lung cancer treatment, Leclaza (lazertinib), has been named the Best Pharmaceutical Product at the inaugural Prix Galien Korea awards. The ceremony, held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, recognized the drug for its innovation, clinical value, and social contribution.

Leclaza is a third-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) used to treat EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Developed through an open R&D model, Yuhan Corporation originally acquired the candidate from Genosco, a subsidiary of Oscotec, in 2015. The company later licensed the technology to Johnson & Johnson in 2018.

Following its approval as a domestic new drug in 2021, Leclaza expanded its indications in 2023. In August 2024, it achieved a significant milestone by receiving US FDA approval as a combination therapy with Johnson & Johnson’s Rybrevant (amivantamab), marking the first time a Korean-developed anticancer drug has received such approval. The treatment is currently expanding its presence in major global markets, including the United States, Europe, Japan, and China.
