Yuki Kuroda discusses life after child stardom in ABEMA documentary
In an ABEMA original documentary titled ‘NO MAKE’, actor Yuki Kuroda discusses his transition from a celebrated child actor to his current life. Kuroda, who gained widespread fame as a ‘beautiful boy’ and won the Japan Academy Film Prize Newcomer of the Year at age 17, shared the challenges that led to a decline in his acting career. He noted that his award increased his perceived professional status, which subsequently led to higher fee requirements and fewer job offers.
Kuroda also opened up about personal struggles, including a period of debt and a diagnosis of alcohol addiction during a time of isolation. Currently, he lives in a modest apartment and earns approximately 250,000 yen per month through various part-time jobs, including working at bars and serving as an acting instructor for child actors. He expressed a deep passion for teaching the next generation, aiming to pass on the lessons he learned from industry veterans to help them become successful actors.
