Japanese professional baseball players Yoshitsugu Hirano and Yuki Nishi announce retirement
Several prominent professional baseball players in Japan are concluding their careers. Orix Buffaloes pitcher Yoshitsugu Hirano held his retirement ceremony at Kyocera Dome, marking the end of a 21-year career. Hirano, who achieved 250 saves in the NPB, concluded his final appearance by striking out SoftBank’s Akira Nakamura. During the ceremony, a video message from Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was played, expressing respect for Hirano’s contributions to the league and his former team.
Additionally, Hanshin Tigers pitcher Yuki Nishi announced his retirement after 18 years in the professional league. Nishi, who recorded 127 wins and achieved a no-hitter during his career with the Orix Buffaloes, concluded his season after reaching 1,500 career strikeouts.
Orix infielder Shugi Yamada also announced his retirement, with former coaches and mentors reflecting on his 17-year career and his resilience following a childhood traffic accident.
