Yuki Tsunoda returns to F1 grid for Dutch Grand Prix

Yuki Tsunoda has returned to the Formula 1 grid for the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, stepping in for Isack Hadjar, who is sidelined due to a wrist injury. Tsunoda, acting as a reserve driver, will compete for Racing Bulls, while Liam Lawson has been temporarily promoted to Red Bull.

During the sprint qualifying sessions, Tsunoda secured 12th position on the grid. He expressed satisfaction with his performance despite the challenges of adapting to the new 2026 car regulations, which feature significantly different energy management and braking characteristics. Tsunoda noted that the transition felt like being a rookie due to the technical shifts in the new machinery.

Beyond the immediate race, Tsunoda has indicated that while his primary goal remains securing a permanent F1 seat, he is prepared to explore other racing categories, such as IndyCar, if a competitive seat is not available for 2027. This comes as the driver market faces increasing competition following Red Bull's recent contract extension with Max Verstappen.
