Yuki Tsunoda seeks full-time F1 seat for 2027

Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda has stated he does not wish to return to a reserve driver role in 2027, expressing a firm desire to secure a full-time seat on the grid. After losing his permanent position following the 2025 season, the Japanese driver has been competing in several Grand Prix as a substitute for Racing Bulls.

Tsunoda has recently filled in for Liam Lawson, who in turn is deputizing for the injured Isack Hadjar at Red Bull Racing. Following recent performances in Zandvoort and Monza—where he secured a point in the latter—Tsunoda believes he has made a positive impression. While he has acknowledged interest from outside Formula 1, such as IndyCar, he emphasized that F1 remains his primary focus.

Regarding contract negotiations for 2027, Tsunoda is leaving discussions to his management, choosing instead to focus on his on-track performance to strengthen his candidacy for a permanent seat.
