Yukio Horio stage design exhibition to be held in Higashihiroshima

The Higashihiroshima City Museum of Art will host a special exhibition titled ‘Yukio Horio Stage Design Exhibition: The Play of Infinity’ from July 22 to October 4, 2026.

Yukio Horio, a prominent stage designer from Hiroshima, has worked on over 700 productions, including operas and works for NODA・MAP and Mikitani Koki. The exhibition will feature approximately 50 items, including stage design models and production materials.

The display will include works themed around the atomic bombing, reflecting Horio’s birthplace, as well as a 1/1 scale cosmic space design created for children. Visitors can explore the behind-the-scenes process of stage creation through moving models and recreations of production workshops.
