Yulin launches Shaanxi provincial mass sports league

The Yulin division of the 2026 Shaanxi Provincial Mass Sports Five-Level League and Community Games officially launched on August 8. The event is part of a provincial strategy to implement the national fitness strategy by building a multi-level sports system connecting provinces, cities, counties, townships, and villages.

To promote grassroots engagement, the initiative aims to bring high-quality fitness resources directly to local communities. The league includes diverse activities ranging from age-appropriate mass fitness projects to regional folk sports. In Yulin, public sports venues are currently being offered for free or at low costs, and school facilities are being opened to the public to support the initiative.

Following the launch ceremony, competitions in Tai Chi, square dancing, and fitness qigong commenced, with football, basketball, and table tennis scheduled to follow. The event also includes free national physical fitness testing and scientific fitness guidance for participants.
