Yuma County organizations launch health and safety awareness initiatives
In Yuma County, Arizona, local organizations are launching initiatives for awareness months in October. The Centro Regional de Salud Fronteriza is promoting its ‘Mujer Saludable’ program to encourage early breast cancer detection. The program provides free mammograms and Pap smears to women who lack medical insurance or do not qualify for AHCCCS. To increase accessibility, the center is offering services on weekdays and two additional Saturdays during October.
Simultaneously, the nonprofit Amberly's Place held its second annual domestic violence conference, ‘Breaking the Silence, Building a Safer Tomorrow.’ The event brought together 150 participants, including law enforcement and experts, to improve inter-agency collaboration and response strategies for victims. The conference is part of a series of events held throughout October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
