Yumi Kawai cast in Fuji TV drama ‘Political Pan’

Actress Yumi Kawai has been cast in the upcoming Fuji TV drama ‘Political Pan’, marking her first appearance in a continuous series for the network. The production, which is set to premiere on October 7, stars Satomi Ishihara as Yayoi Kisaragi, a ‘female Lupin’ who infiltrates the political world of the fictional nation of Nipponia to seize opaque political funds.

Kawai will portray Miyabi Kobayakawa, the daughter of a powerful former Prime Minister and current political kingmaker. While Miyabi is initially depicted as a socialite prone to nightlife, she becomes a target for Kisaragi’s schemes. The character is described as having a straightforward nature that undergoes a transformation through her interactions with the protagonist.

The series also features Issei Takahashi as an elite ruling party politician. The drama is written by Akiko Nogi and is positioned as a heist-style entertainment centered on the complexities of political money.
