Yuna Aoki leads women’s event at Grand Prix de France

Grand Prix de France Yuna Aoki figure skating Ami Nakai Angers

Japanese figure skater Yuna Aoki took a surprise lead in the women’s short program at the Grand Prix de France in Angers. Despite a shaky triple lutz-triple loop combination, Aoki scored 76.13 points, setting a near personal best.

Olympic bronze medalist Ami Nakai placed third with 70.66 points after a mistake on her opening triple axel resulted in a non-scoring single. Former European champion Anastasiia Gubanova of Georgia holds second place with 72.63 points.

In the ice dance category, Olympic champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron established a commanding lead with a score of 82.56 during their season debut.
