Yung Miami discusses mental health struggles and solo career transition

Rapper Yung Miami has opened up about her struggles with depression and the intense public criticism she faced while transitioning to a solo career following the 2024 disbandment of the duo City Girls.

During an appearance on the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast, Miami explained that she managed her mental health by staying busy with music. She noted that booking studio sessions helped her avoid the “deep depression” that occurred when she had too much time to think, though she admitted to experiencing days where she was unable to get out of bed.

The artist described a turning point following the viral success of her single “Spend Dat,” which reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Miami announced plans to release a documentary that will chronicle the challenges and emotional toll of her journey as a solo artist.
