Yunlin County begins restoration of former police station
The restoration and repurposing project for the Former Yunlin County Police Station has officially commenced. The Yunlin County Government is self-funding the NT$46.5 million project to transform the historical site into the Yunlin County History Museum.
Completed in 1950, the building served as the county police station and the Douliu branch office. The restoration will follow the principles of ‘repairing the old as it was’ and ‘minimal intervention’ to preserve its post-war architectural features, including its red brick structure and terrazzo exterior.
The project is expected to be completed in February 2028. Once operational, the museum will serve as a platform for displaying local history, administrative development, and digital archives. It is also intended to link with nearby cultural sites, such as the Xingqi Memorial Hall and the Yunzhong Street Police Dormitories, to create a cultural network within the old city of Douliu.
