Yunlin County distributes pomelos to elderly to support farmers

The Yunlin County Government held a “Pomelo Reunion” event in Beigang Town to celebrate the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Led by Deputy County Magistrate Chen Pi-chun, the initiative involved distributing 28,000 high-quality Douliu pomelos to elderly residents and volunteers at community care centers and “Evergreen Canteens” across the county.

The program aims to provide social care to seniors while simultaneously supporting local small-scale farmers. According to officials, the number of Evergreen Canteens in the county has expanded from 66 to 221, with 219 community care centers now serving approximately 27,000 seniors and volunteers. This effort is part of the “Yunlin County Elderly Care Program,” which focuses on integrated resources to create a healthy environment for aging in place.
