Yunlin County launches 2026 Braised Pork Rice Festival competition

The Yunlin County Government has officially launched the registration for the ‘2026 Yunlin Braised Pork Rice Festival’ culinary competition. Registration is open from now until October 8, targeting both professional establishments and amateur cooking enthusiasts nationwide.

County Magistrate Chang Li-shan emphasized that the event aims to showcase Yunlin’s agricultural strengths, specifically its high-quality rice, pork, and soy sauce. The festival is designed to connect local agricultural products with consumers through the popular dish of braised pork rice.

The competition features two main categories: a ‘Professional Shop Group’ and a ‘Civilian Expert Group.’ A new ‘Creative Side Dish Award’ has also been introduced to encourage the use of local agricultural products in innovative ways.

The festival is scheduled to take place on December 5 at the Gukeng Green Tunnel. The event will include an awards ceremony and a tasting session where ten selected high-quality vendors will provide 1,500 bowls of braised pork rice for free to the public. Additionally, there will be exhibition and sales areas for local rice, meat, soy sauce, and other specialty agricultural products.
