Yunlin County promotes circular economy and food education

Yunlin County is advancing sustainable agricultural initiatives through circular economy practices and enhanced food and agriculture education. To support the transition toward net-zero emissions, the county government is repurposing agricultural waste into valuable resources. This includes converting pineapple leaves into plant fibers for textiles and transforming oyster and clam shells into functional ‘sea wool yarn’ for eco-friendly uniforms.

Additionally, the county is promoting food and agriculture education to strengthen local brand identity and encourage healthy eating habits. The Yunlin County Government has introduced the ‘Food and Agriculture Team’ mascots to engage students through storytelling and interactive lessons. A public naming contest for these mascots is currently underway to foster community involvement in supporting local agriculture.
