Yunlin County advances smart city initiatives and regional cultural events

Yunlin County is advancing several regional development and cultural initiatives. County Magistrate Zhang Lishan recently attended the International City Forum (ICF) Global Summit in the United States, where she shared Yunlin’s achievements in smart governance and smart agriculture. Yunlin has been recognized as one of the top seven smart cities globally, driven by its Smart Agriculture University and the integration of AI and data analysis into the local agricultural and medical sectors.

In terms of local infrastructure, policy proposals have been introduced to improve Yunlin’s transportation network. These include a “Smart Transportation White Paper” aimed at enhancing connectivity between high-speed rail and rural areas through flexible bus services, shared taxis, and an integrated digital “one-code” system to assist commuters, students, and the elderly.

Cultural and agricultural events are also scheduled for October. The 15th Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival (TIDF) has launched its tour in Hualien, featuring 30 screenings and discussions. Additionally, the 20th Yunlin International Agricultural Machinery and Materials Exhibition will take place in Huwei, showcasing AI and low-carbon agricultural technologies from multiple countries. Local community development will be celebrated through the Yunlin Community Building Carnival in Linnei, highlighting local crafts, food, and history.
